Rigging Palms 2/16/10

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exJNvXbm2Y4

These palms were over a foam roof and pool decking.
The ground crew had never done any tree work like this so it was a bit slow going at 1st.

The zipline worked very well but most of those shots were not recorded. We did about 5 peices after the footage in this video that were perfect because the guys dialed in on the tensioning and lowering. Dam camera gremlins!
Im digging the x170 drift.
Easy to use, and not bad quality for the price.
Thanks Steve B for pointing me this way.

Re: Rigging Palms 3/16/10

Nice work!!!! The x170 looks like a good helmet cam for the price. Guess I'll have to buy one to be part of the crowd with you, Jeremy, Steve, and everyone else.

Also, was that a figure 8 as a large ring for the adjustable false crotch?

Re: Rigging Palms 3/16/10

Nice!!! Good video. The guy running the rope did a good job. I liked it at 5:22, you went to hang on for the shock load, he let it run just right. Sweet!!!! So, you digging the x170? I like it so far. I should have some vid up soon.

Jeez, slow down. I'm already behind you with the treeMOTION and x170. I don't think I can afford anything after that

Nice job! I like not only the rigging details, but the protection of the client's stuff.

About how long did that job take?

Do you put dump fees for the palm debris in your bids?

Just curious. Nice work.

I bid this one to just put the stuff on the ground. I also trimmed the dead out of a couple of small pine trees. THe total job time for me was 5 hours and I billed them 400.
4 bills, a cool video, and I was home by noon.
This was a good day :)
I will work on the gratuidous one handing. Palms hold a snap cut rather well so Im not sure what that was all about. just dum

That's why you felt the need to one hand, to try to push things over. Working with new people can be rough.

But, no more one handing!

did the guy at 4:54 not realize that the piece was setup to come right at him?

awesome job though...the zipline was cool....i agree on the others about the one handing

I did notice you having to go from your right side after the cut to the left side to hang up your saw. Have you thought about keeping the chainsaw on your right side? Eliminating the need to pass the saw back and forth. It would help eliminate the time sharp objects are around your life line.

Just food for thought. I do like the speed line. On the ground or in the tree they are always fun. People love seeing rigging like that and are usually impressed.

Nice video. What are you using to attach your block? It looked like it was hanging down pretty far.

Your right, Its an adjustable slimg that I didnt have close enough. Jamin Mayer busted my balls via PM on the matter already. Laziness on my part for sure. This is why I post these silly vids. Thanks for pointing it out.

I see your point but Im not sure I could handle the saw being next to my lanyard. I should give it a try. Great excuse to get my handsaw down on my leg like have have been meaning to do for so long. They say you cant teach an old dog new tricks, but hell, Im only 38!

I warned him to step back. The load line would have blocked it better than his body. I think he was trying to be a blocker to protect that concrete column that was behind him. As Borality pointed out, it should have been butt tied. He wasnt hurt so I laughed at him. The music covers my cruelty quite well.

I would recommend becoming proficient with a cow hitch. Once you have it down it is so much easier and faster than an adjustable sling.
