Rigging bollard from forestry suppliers?

Haven't used that bollard but have had negative experience with forestry suppliers. They may be a popular company but they will never get any more of my business.

There have been cheap bollards like this before, this does look pretty minimal.
.
i think Porty and 5:1 (pulled for 8:1 return by positing both hands rite) jig would match and could attach Porty with double bearing against upward pull.
This single bearing on bollard is low belt, doesn't seem very long frame to then pivot upper to bight tree hard against upward slide with higher leveraged force, especially on taper pulled at worst direction crosswise to support of strap.
.
Hard to tell metal and welds frompic, but can see Geometry much easier!
.
Easier to break ratcheting function, than static drum.
.
i'd be wary too, unless wanted to test how real premium setup would work on a smaller scale of weight and tools. So, would stick with Porty for same.

The strap looks to be the same (more or less) as the one on the GRCS. Holds fine on the tree if you get it tight (like try and break the strap tight)

I own one and rarely use it because it kinda sucks. The ratcheting action doesn’t so much aside from pretensioning because the rope won’t tail very well. I think I paid a hundred bucks brand new when Karl Kuemmerlings went out of business. I just keep it for the times I need more friction devices than I normally carry

We have three of the non-ratcheting type (one on each chip truck). Haven’t used the ratcheting type. It is like a much more heavy duty port-a-wrap that is a little easier to operate. It would be nice if it could tension the rope, but if that is required, we install a mechanical advantage setup on the rope to tension it. I have wanted a GRCS a few times, but overall we have been satisfied.

+1

I've bought a "fair" amount from them over the years - mostly for doing forestry work. All was well....until I got a defective product. Customer service was terrible, to say the least.

Amazon will be more helpful than Forestry Suppliers if you need to return/replace something. Too bad they bought Ben Meadows - was the better place for forestry equipment. I now pay more to buy from other places to avoid them.

Strap Looks plenty strong to me;
for resisting straight pulls away from trunk.
But projected pull is not perpendicular to tree for strongest inline (to web) usage pull
>>but rather at errant perpendicular angle/ worst angle of pull, especially on single bearing mount.
.
The leveraged geometry resisting being pulled up the trunk, is what i'm questioning.
>>would like to see double bearing positioning of 2 straps leveraged distance apart
>>longer,wider framing to do so
or longer frame the 1 low belt, but the upward pull using length from belt pivot to bight into tree harder, perhaps w/teeth at top end of leveraged length of frame; i'd think w/o cutting shelf to resist.
.
Perhaps in it's (lighter?)duty range all that isn't needed?
Solid bollard more solid than ratchet/capstan/windlass
>>impact on gears not good!
