Norm
what is the bury depth on that sling after you do the locked brummel?
It Looks real shallow witch would make the throat allot more malleable.
When I try this re-direct the throat of my locked brummel and two fid bury looks real bulky.

The cordage is 5/16's diameter vectran, and it's a 3/4 fid length bury after a locking brummel, then lock stitched with 1.8 Zing-It.
Keep in mind this is a life support sling, so it's not gonna see more than 10% of it's ABS. If it were a rigging sling, I would absolutely bury more, depending on the construction and fiber. I don't even use a locking brummel on any of my rigging slings, anyway. Straight buries only, and done according to manufacturers recommendations.
Like Nick said, 1 fid length is recommended, but knowing the construction and the fiber are key to what one can do in a bury, after a locking brummel.
Example: In Dyneema, I would bury 1 fid length, after a locking brummel, because Dyneema is a slipperier fiber.
When splicing, don't cut corners to make the spliced portion of the rope easier to work with.
