Replacing gaffs

I attempted to replace my Buckingham gaffs but ended up bending two punches and a spare pin.
Anyone replace these gaffs before?
The pins punch out in one direction and are installed in the opposite direction.
I am about to try a drill bit in an arbor press to see if I can force the pins out.

Those new T2 climbers are really nice, and lighter than the Bashlin aluminum ones. They use two lockscrews instead of press pins (much like the Kleins).
Sorry, never owned a pair of the regular Buckinghams. I'd think a punch would have worked though.
