Red Oak

Just a point to ponder.

What do you reckon offers more give, a 100' loop sling seeing 2.4k lbs or 100' of boom (perhaps more) at a 80' radius deflecting under load?

hey todd k., once again nice job bud! i dig the use of the spider leg to help control and squeez into landing area. it looked like the last log was about 3400 lbs. but i'm betting you guys figured you could get away with a bigger pick because it was being lifted right off the ground? as a crane owner i understand billy's point of view about minimizing boom stress (as long as there isn't enough stretch to let that thing drop at you!) i love red oaks! i strongly dislike pin oaks though.

Mike, I think the last cut was around 3,000lbs. And yes as you know last cuts we offen go a bit bigger. I told Billy that it would be heavier, and if he was not comforable lifting it, I would reach up and cut it again. With out being committed to an aerial cut go big right?

Glen, The clevis has the spider legs on it. They are just dead eye tenex slings. If the pin was on the hook it would slide side to side. With the yoke on the hook it stays right in the belly of the clevis.

Lumberjack, endless round slings have very little stretch, for the wood we used long nylon eye and eye, they have quite a bit more stretch. Once I made the cuts on the wood you could see the ball go up and the slings stretch and the wood not move untill the pull was just right, then the step cut would seperate and away it goes nice and quite and controlled. Because of the form of the brush we were way under the load the load ratings.

It is safer to have the slings in the bow rather than around the pin, of a screw pin shackle. The pin cannot unthread this way. /forum/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Mark, they will fit on the hook, but we rent our cranes and many of the hooks have burs on them which would destroy the synthetic rope fibers. The shackle also has a bigger radius than the hook and it more evenly distributes the weight if there are 3 or 4 slings being used. If in the riggers opinion there are no burs, then we will work off the crane hook. The crane hook has a pin to lock the gate to prevent the tools from becoming dislodged.

Need your practice for acne treatment

Hello all,
I have a problem and I need your advice.
I'm young man. I have a strange kind of acne. Strange because I've tried many methods to clear my skin with no result.
It's very important for me to make my skin clean and healt.
Do you have such problems?
What kind of medical preparation do you use? And what about effectiveness?
Can you suggest me treatment which was efficient for your skin?
I'm really need your practice for it!

Thank you,
Dave.

I used to find 100 grade sandpaper very effective.

Failing that, try laser treatment or anti bacterial face wash.

Do you use cranes for takedowns? just curious as this is what this forum is about.

Weirdo

Acne......... sheesh........ If I were you I would light my face on fire and beat it out with a golf shoe.
