RAIN PANTS

Moved away from the grundens bibs of death years ago. Been rocking some half zip grundens pants for a couple years worked pretty well and way less sweat suit. Want something like my kuiu yukons but don’t want to shred a $300 pair of pants in a season. Anyone have good recommendations on durable breathable rain pants that can hold up to real rain and abuse?

IMO $300 a season for rain gear isn't that bad. $3 a day for 100 days that's like a LG coffee and a Snickers bar.

Very true. I’m definitely not one to skimp on quality gear. Especially if it makes the miserable days a little less miserable! I was just throwing out feelers see if anyone had experience with a unicorn pant they loved! Haa

And that is just the pants. You throw a $400 jacket on top that’s a real tax right off! Haa

Expect to buy new each year. The old isn't useless just less useful.

One set of raingear/ boots/ dry clothes and expecting to be dry and comfort is wishful thinking around me, and you're in the coast!

Having 2 good sets will pay off when a storm hits.

I dig storm defenders. I wear the bibs and the coat. Don't like to be wet and cold.

Yeh it’s a wet son of a…around here a good portion of the year. As you know well! I do find if I get good quality gear, that comes with a quality price and take care of it ie.hang it up nightly and boots on dryer you can get a season or two. As we all know there’s so many expenses in this game you just want you dollar to be spent on something that’s gonna be worthwhile. I’ll probably end up getting a pair of high end grundens or something similar to my Kuiu’s and see how they hold up. At least I’ll be comfy. for a while…

I find I sweat in raingear. Unless it's significant rain, I wear a soft shell and Arborwear Tech II, IIRC.

I have the Raingear Pro bibs. Durable but limited range of motion. Not going to be doing yoga in them that’s for sure. I stay dry and they seem to be holding up but I would like to be able to move a bit more than they allow.
