So what works for you and holds up. Id love to see some good options for something that takes heavy rain or just on and off rain. Pants are what seem to be my down fall as they get all the runoff from thhe jacket.

Cabela's- guidewear series. I've had my set for 5 years and no complaints. It's a little pricey but raingear is something I won't skimp on.

Helle Hanson..the Norwegians know a bit about nasty weather.

Snow board gear...designed with a bit more freedom of movement and tough patches were they/we need them.

Sierra Trading Post...say no more :)

x2 on Sierra Trading Post.

My boss bought us a green Marmot MemBrain rain jacket there for just over $100. A little steep, but we had some extra cash available from cleaning scrap metal out of our shop.

We work in heavy rain all the time to keep up with the work when it’s busy. The rain gear that has worked for us is the Carhart rain suits. They are awesome for the ground crew, But a little bulky to climb in. For the tree removals I don’t mind the bulk as much as when I’m pruning. So far my suits have lasted six years no tears or wholes. I like that they have tight spandex around the wrist area so it limits water from going down your sleeve. Although when you are climbing the water still seems to drip down a bit.

I think they were a 100 bucks a pair

I've got a Carhartt rainsuit as well. Very durable, and totally watertight. Hot, though, so hot you'll want to be going commando. Can't be beat for those cold spring or fall rains though.

Paddling jacket with the neoprene sleeves and collar. It helps to keep rain from the helmet from running down my neck. The sleeve cuff keeps out the water squeezed out of the rope by the hitch.

Picked it up at EMI

Colorado is pretty dry, so I rarley have to work in the rain. And if it rains, I'll call off the day.--I know, I'm a whimp. But, I'm like a cat. I don't like to get wet (unless I'm going swimming)

So, if the cash flow is low, I'll rough it out in the rain.

Will the Helly Hansen make you burn up? Or, do they somehow breathe?

Gore tex is awesome. it is machine washable, and heat activated! that means you just throw it through the dryer and bam! good as new.

I'll second the Carhartt and Helly impertech. I keep both on the truck depending on what I'm doing. Helly is stretch and light for climbing, Carhartt is heavy and durable for ground ops (and has pockets) and is the go to for absolute cats and dogs downpour.

I've also started wearing rain gear tops a lot less since discovering the power of thick poly sweaters. Breathable, comfortable and although they absorb a fair bit of water, it has to really pour for a while before moisture gets all the way through.

Spent the day in the heavy rain today and plan to for the rest of the week. All nice and dry in the carharts
