You kow-the prarie dog execution video was grotesque but instant death for varmints is much "kinder" that poison or epizootic from overpopulation. -And, FWIW, if you don't blow them to smithereens prarie dogs actually taste quite good.

Where I live in western New York deer have become a real problem, and we have tried most of the deer repellents on the market. Some work a little better then others but none work for long. They have to be reapplied several times though out the winter. And it hard to do if it is below freezing. Most of are clients just have to fence everything in the winter.

About as good as watching praire dogs blow up!!! /forum/images/graemlins/ymca.gif

Ok ok I never saw them, past my bed time, but with a name like that.
Well /forum/images/graemlins/ymca.gif /forum/images/graemlins/ymca.gif

Down here they have repellents that you can pray around plants or whatever you want to keep deer away, and it really works well, I think they have it for rodents as well

I like the idea of praying around plants to keep the varmints away:

Creator of all things, we thank you for the splendid diversity of your creation. We particularly love your adorable little bunnies, but we would love them even more if they went someplace else. Amen!

But, really! You have "100's of acres and 1000's of trees" and you've lost 50 to the local rabbits and you're complaining? Seems a fair price to pay for the use of the rabbits' environment.

rescue, you're not serious with that post are you?

If you're talking about the prayer - that was a jest on Alves' typo. I think he meant to type "spray" instead of "pray". Though there's something to be said for prayer. If you doubt it, read Healing Words; The Power of Prayer and the Practice of Medicine by Dr. Larry Dossey (an MD who once beleived that prayer was nothing more than superstition) in which he "proves" scientifically that prayer is one of the most powerful healers.

But if you're asking about giving a little back to the other creatures we share the world with, I'm absolutely serious. In biblical days, at the start of the age of agriculture, it was required to leave a portion of your field to the wild animals and also a portion to those people who had less than you. Native Americans always offer the first portion of their bounty to the Earth in gratitude for its sustenance.

It would be a better world today if we still practiced these simple acts of thanksgiving and sharing.
