Quick Question

I don't wear saw pants aloft. If I was to wear saw protection aloft, I would absolutely focus on upper body protection. Chainsaw to the leg, bad... Chainsaw to the arm, bad... Chainsaw to the neck or face, tremendously bad.

I don't have some external boss pushing my production schedule.

Getting wood on the ground is not my operation's bottleneck.

Cutting (finger pulling trigger) while climbing is a small percentage of your time. Most time is climbing and work positioning, rigging, communication, waiting, etc.

Good work positioning is crucial to avoiding cutting yourself. I have the luxury of telling everyone to stand there and wait while I get a good, safe position.

Agreed. 100%. I'll make sure I have a solid stance. It's also pretty rare to nearly non-existent that I'll make a chainsaw cut one-handed so getting a solid position is even more important. Still wear my pants all the time. They are nicely padded and comfortable in the tree which is an extra bonus.
