Quercus Finito

Well regardless , give me the green light to smash a house I guarantee I’ll have a better picture than that . I also like the “Reverend” . I agree Jon, the tree wasn’t that big , I mean it was over a hundred feet tall and fat like a pig . Rob and I were never in the tree before, I was shown the bad spot from the ground . The previous climbers said that the tree was “real bad” and the hole was huge . When we unlocked the yard to get in it , I raised the bucket up and saw the decay , and Rob saw it when he climbed it , that it wasn’t that bad. The bucket at seventy five feet couldn’t reach the canopy , so Rob lowered all the brush out . Than we crushed it with the bucket . I got a lot of money to take that tree down because it was labeled “ Hazardous” . I gave a price on those conditions . I didn’t label the tree hazardous , though it was , but not extreme, I priced it like it was told to me. The first time I saw the decay was when I was blasting my 046 through it. I think it ( the tree ) would have stood proud for a few more years , plus. That checked is CASHED. When Sawdust gets his S*it together , we’ll get a photo up . Rob is key , hell of a climber.

When ever your chunknig down big wood it hazordous, good wood or bad wood. I'm sure you weren't slave driving the crew like we did at Ward.

Must have been a pretty big tree considering I heard that some co.'s priced it at above $20,000.00 /forum/images/graemlins/bangtard.gif

Good job Rob and Glen. Next time call me and I'll come watch and point! /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm working on those pics. I have disk space problems. I should have them sent to Riggs tonight.

Like Riggs said, The tree isn't that bad. Just alittle girthy and whatnot. We had another tree to to take out to get to the bigger one with the bucket. Riggs worked on that while I hung out in the other tree. We took turns on the lowering, with one rope guy.

This tree did not take 2 days to get 1 down. It took one day to take 2 trees down. We started at about 9am. Both trees down at about 4:30pm. After Riggs took the head out of first tree, there was 5 guys on the ground cleaning up the mess. I had to wait a few times til they caught up. Then thay "made" me come down for lunch. I wanted the brush out by lunch.

Most of the wood was out to the curb the same day. The second day was for wood removal and yard repair. It was a good day for me, a better day for Riggs and a bad day for the person writing the check.

I'll take you up on that, hopefully soon enough. I got this tree at a State park, with permission already in line, to measure and make a climb out of it. It's bigger than the one in the pic. A Tulip Poplar( yellow poplar?) I'm guessing around 160' if not more, real spread out. Nice tree.

Anyway there's a couple more pics of the oak tree and the sassafrass Riggs did.

This is why it took so long(6 1/2 hrs), John. I guess if we had 7 guys instead of 5 to get the brush out fast enough.

They did have 2 trees at once comin at them. They held their own. Skidloader helped with wood too.

Isn't that always the problem ground guys who can't keep up or dont want to give the lowering line back just to slow you down. I hate when they try to keep me down like that. G

Good Job! At least everyone is safe and you got paid thats whats important.
