Quality Control on Purchased Splice

I bought some line to use for anchor line on a small sailboat. I ordered it from a very reputable outfit. The line is 1/2 inch nylon 8 strand. For an extra 30ish dollars I added a splice to the order.
So I’m not sure if I’m spoiled by the quality of splices I’ve gotten from the arb industry or if I just think this splice should look better? I understand it’s fully functional and safe, but should I question this quality of splice? Does it looks rushed, like a Friday afternoon job?

The only 8 braid I've ever done was bread.

Consider calling the supplier. Maybe there is a reason for the bits of tails hanging out. If not, they should know what is being sent out.

Maybe it was spliced first thing Monday morning after a holiday weekend.

I would not be happy paying $30 for that splice. I can't imagine a reputable company wanting to send out such a shoddy looking product.

When I had a sailboat, I just used 3-strand for anchor line. So easy to splice, I could do it myself.

Nice splicing job for an 8 plait, too bad the ends weren’t longer to bury in the middle. Shrink tube or tubular webbing could be added to tidy it up some.

Hmm. I thought 8-strand was a hollow braid where the recommended splice would have been a brummel with the tail buried. Not the first time I was wrong. Hard to tell from the photos, but is this a hollow braid and could a brummel have been used?

It’s more like a solid braid, a little bit of room in the center, but not much. I did one splice for a anchor line a couple years ago. I followed the angle of the braids and buried the ends, down and through to opposite side, and cut flush.
The tucks will stick out if the rope is bent, like the tan hitch cord, whipping or some kind of cover prevents snagging of these.

Shrink tube and melting and mushrooming the ends tidies it up.
