Quaking aspen disease?

All of the new growth ends on my aspens look like the attached pic. Was growing fine and started looking like this with shriveled underdeveloped leafs. Looked through diseases and none of them seem to look like this when it comes to aspens. Any ideas?

Frost or herbicide would be my guess.

Doesn't look fungal, abiotic I think.

So I did spray bits of grass with round up away from the trees but I know they have an extensive root system. Can round up be absorbed through roots easily?

Generally not. Has to be absorbed via bark or leaves in most cases.

Thanks for the help! I am guessing if they were exposed to roundup accidentally I will just have to let them tough it out or is there a remedy?

I think its treated with fungicide. I referred it to the local PHC firm, 7+ years ago.

Doesnt look right but perhaps more pics would support that.

All the trees (all connected by roots) look the same as the pic. No leafs are dying or discolored just curled and disfigured

Not blight, true. Toxin? Cold? Virus?

Not seen on my aspen in NM (but now I'll look)
; they got galls instead.

Could be herbicide drift. Also check the label sometimes there are other herbicides added glyphosate (Round-up).
