A Stihl arsenal. Nice collection, Swing. My fav saw of all is a 460 with a dual port muffler...25" bar and full chisel skip chain....now I am using square grind ripping chain not sure...when I went to the UK sold all my saws...so now I started with a fully modded 201 14" using non safety link...a muffler modded 192 12" for pruning....a 261 muffler modded 20" non safety should be 18 but runs very well....then my 661 pig muffler modded using a 25/36....but my next saw will be a 461...muffler modded that will run the 25"/28"
It's just a couple days, but I haven't had any issues with the hitch binding in the wrench like others find. I use a michoacan with a 10mm armor Prus on velocity.

Content without context...Talking about what system is used and how much gear to carry can be a never ending rabbit hole, unless we include the applications and goals of our work order/rec climb, etc...
What I will say is that I rarely pull gear off my saddle. I carry:
- Mulitiscender of the Day & Rope (need that [thanks Morgan, @treebing, @surveyor, @pctree, @JMerritt !!!])
- Lanyard with a thimble loop on the working end (need that, too)
- Web sling/Biner (ultra fast redirect without passing system through a natty, or good hold on a branch I'm cutting with a handsaw)
- Ringloop/Biner (Ghost Technique or static redi)
- Handsaw &/or MS192T (need that)
- Oval Mallion (where do I begin? Never know its there until you want it, so...)
- 12oz. Throwbag (rope advancement, setting predirects [thanks @swingdude])
- John Kays SLICtool (AWESOME in cold weather, super small [thanks @John_KAYS!])
- Whistle ( Dudes! Watch your head!)
With that gear, I do not feel impeded and I'm ready for any scenario in any work climb in any tree in my work area. I grapple with retrievable redirects and that's the only kit I have not listed. I just rarely ever want one in my area, but I do have one in my gear bag.
Thanks Eric! Yes, I learned that technique from your Snow video. I didn't realize it has since acquired a name. A very appropriate name, at that! The Ghost Technique is more like a first person name applied to a technique because of what it evokes...passing "through" a branch. Paul Poynter educated me on how information can be recieved by Japanese people, and said giving things a "name" is key, rather than purely technical descriptions or acronyms. Ghosting sounded pretty rad.
DSRT makes Ghosting fairly self explanatory, where the climber can pass one line over a union, followed by the second line, and carry on.
In SRT, the thimble Prussik is key. Most any Prussik that is compatible with the main line will work, but I like the thimble for ease and cleanliness.
- Ascend to branch
- Install Prussik on main line above branch
- Run lanyard in SRT under branching into Prussik. Tend all slack in lanyard.
- Descend on main line and transfer weight into lanyard.
- Spike mainline below Prussik if you'll be a while.
- Disconnect main system from bridge and retrieve by pulling it over the branch.
- Reconnect main system to bridge and remove all slack.
- Release any tension in lanyard, remove from Prussik and stow as so desired.
- Remove and stow Prussik.
- You are now a Ghost!
I Ghosted quite early on in my 'Snow' video, for visual reference.
Cheers, Teubor!
LMAO well kinda... But no it's a hh2 with a few tweaks to make it a little smaller and lighter. I should have it sometime this week then I'll throw it on a rope and get a good pic. Wish I had my old hh2 to show the differenceWhat is this mythical green thing? HH3?
