We do a lot of out-of-town projects and constantly struggle to find ethanol free gasoline for our 2 cycle mix. I now use a great site that list ethanol free stations all over the country. pure-gas.org Save your 2 cycle equipment and don't run fuels with ethanol.

Here is an easy test to see if your fuel has ethanol in it.

1. Take a small (narrow) jar and place a small amout of water in it
2. With a "sharpie" marker, mark the water level in the jar
3. Pour your fuel into the jar at a ratio of 10:1 (10 parts fuel to 1 part water)
4. Cap the jar and shake it vigorously
5. Let it sit for a few minutes and then examine the water level in relation to your mark. If the level is now higher than the mark, the ethanol that was present in the gasoline has separated out and mixed with the water- if the level is still at the mark, no ethanol is present.

We have a local station that says it has ehanol free gas that I have been using for all my small engine fuel but it is only 96 octane. I'd really like to find higher octane stuff. Definitely worth the extra cost. Must be a government thing though, since ethanol is an additive, why do I have to pay extra for the distributors to not put it in. Am I not saving them work and expense?
