Protos Fail

My new foreman was rocking a protos till Tuesday. It wasn't even cold here, like 30°f. It landed on concrete and split in half. I've never seen a hardhat fail, and I've kicked/thrown my fair share.

Anyone had something similar? I'm wanting to upgrade to something better than the cheap Jackson ones off Amazon, but those are bombproof and work fine. I've never had one break.

I'm encouraging him to reach out to the seller/manufacturer. Maybe there's something I'm missing. It's not that old (a couple years).

It sounds like he bought it himself. I would definitely call them, but I think they only warranty it for 3 years, so if it is older than that, they will likely tell him to kick rocks. No reciept because it was x amount of time ago? They'll also have no sympathy. That sounds like being stuck between the concrete and a hardhat...

You probably know this but helmets are made to break, same as a 'crumple zone' in a car absorbing the impact. That said, it sure seems like a very low energy event where that shouldn't have happened. Totally worth reaching out to the manufacturer.

Someone should reach out and find out the "cold plastic gets brittle" limitations of all the common helmets used.

Any sign of UV degradation (discoloration, surface finish change)?

Been on a PMI Advantage for over a year, kevlar, super light, love it. When you say it "landed", how far did it fall?
