Preferred method of Canopy Anchor

So the carabiner that attaches your spliced eye to the 8mm cord is essentially a backup to the hitch hiker knot as well. I like it. Simple.

Stuff is cheap but I have never used it.

I used either a Petzl 8mm Accessory Cord, or Teufelberger 8mm Reep Schnur. The Reep is more supple and easier to stuff into the ditty bag.

We have that stuff on a couple of our pruners mike, and it is not supple at all. I have used the generic accessory cord in 9 mm that treestuff sells and it works well but is very stretchy if there is a lot of friction to pull against.

I think I may try my ten mil htp for this. It just sits in the closet currently. I almost never canopy anchor, but maybe I will try it out soon

I've not used any tagline in that setup, if I did, it would be another climb line on a work tree, I always have a fear of nicking the main climb line and not having a backup available to me in the tree to complete the job.

A damaged line can have the damage isolated from the system by going a knot on a bight, like an alpine butterfly, with the damage in the bight.

I like that there is no rope movement at the branch during pull-out. Maybe I would use a quick-link instead of the ring to simplify Recrotching.

I can't help you there ,but I've used the sterling 6 mm or maybe it's thinner yet than that ,but none the less it works good . Just use a biner with a munter for hard pull retrieval through a few redis.. Hasn't broke yet.

New to srt so just started learning alpine butterfly (easy) - though now will go to farmers loop (also easy) - though less chance of jamming under heavier loads.

Other options would work - though use more rope, take longer to tie, ect.
