Porting

I replaced a stolen 395xp with a 390xp. It was a supply and demand type situation. I am not entirely happy with the 390, it's not my 395. Is porting a good mod? What do you gain from it?
Aside from taking great care of my saws/equipment, I have no business pretending to have any mechanical knowledge in regards to mods.

arboristsite.com has a lot of good info on porting chainsaws. I would do a search on their past threads over there for more info; if done properly it can really waken up a saw.

I have a Dolmar 7900 that ecsaws on arboristsite did for me. That is a cutting machine. I went from a 10 second cut time to a 6 second cut time. I would say it's worth doing.

Check your saws porters out very closely.

To many HONEST guys out there doing this to choose the wrong one and some have a very checkered past like one posted above.
