Search crown reductions and pruning posts.
It would probably be wiser to remove these populars and replant a different species. Not all at once but selectively. Even the topped trees are going to pollinate and grow new trees.

Thank you, very useful information. I'm afraid it is difficult to apply to the poplar, poplar after such trimming dry in our area.
