Pole Saws

I still prefer the ash poles at 12’ length. Never thought they felt too heavy. With the ARS turbo blade it cuts very fast and I am convinced that the extra weight of the pole helps the blade cut better.
I’ve tried the lighter glass poles and they are ok.

We have used pole saws quite a bit over the years...I have always had a Hayauchi, I thought they were the best but we went through 1-2 a year because of sections getting bent.
I tried the carbon fiber notch pole saw, but the pole snapped when i was using it in a tree shortly after i purchased it.
So i tried the Hayate..It is heavier, but we are still using it after 2 years and it has been much more durable than the Hayauchi due to the flat top on the tube. if it does bend a bit, it is easy to straighten.
We also love our Silky Longboy for working out of the lift, and I keep one in my bidding truck for small projects.

I did a bunch of research on this subject last year when I was looking to upgrade my pole saw setup and I ended up with the best:
Jameson B-Lite fiberglass poles
Silky Hayauchi blade and compatible head
Jemeson Big Mouth pruner

I ended up getting 2x8' poles and 1x6' pole. The setup is very awkward at the full 22', but it is light and sturdy enough at full length to be efficient.
Ordered it all from Wesspur, nearly $400, but worth it so far!

What about pole pruners? Has anyone found a good telescoping pole that can fit a pruner head?
I have a separate Marvin pruner head on 2 traditional fiberglass poles. I also have a Corona Bull pruner on a traditional fitting on one end and the other has been bent to be a "close enough" match that it can go on the end of my hayate pole. That thing is HEAVY fully extended. Silky makes the Sintung pruner that is made to go on the end of a Hayauchi pole: http://www.silkysaws.com/Silky_Saws/SINTUNG

Anybody know if that will work (or can easily be made to work) on a Hayate?

Great info! Have you used the hayauchi pole or the sintung pruner? It’s not a tool I use that often but to the point that I’m tired of buying junk and having it break

I haven't used either. Maybe I used a friend's Hayauchi on a few cuts. I is a little lighter than my Hayate. I think they are both great saws - more people seem to prefer the Hayauchi. That you can get the pruner head for it would probably seal the deal for me if I were buying new today.

For ARS poles can get the ARS adapter to fit Wolf utility heads from pruners, to window washing attachments etc very handy and the Wolf attachments are very good

I have not tried it on the Hayate. We have one for our Hayauchi...The Sintung pruner is a racheting pruner and is very heavy. If I am doing pruning work I prefer a cheap Corona fiberglass extendable just because of how light it is.

I've got the notch carbon... carbon , fiberglass mix... I'm not sure the exact composite composition. Matter of fact I have 2 now and they are great for the lightness in weight and stiffness good for cutting .. it's not good in a sense , as they are a bit brittle and we cracked the top section of one which now limits the length we can apply its usage.. overall for what they're designed for and I believe good on them from the ground. I do not use them in tree and only rarely from lift.

I absolutely love ours. I bought a second one because my guys loved the first one so much they were fighting over it. I really like using it in our bucket truck to reach things I can get close enough to reach with a chainsaw, etc. I've thought about buying a third as a spare. If they go on sale, I'll probably do just that.
