Pole Saw Positioning

We just finished deadwooding over 300 American Elms with a 4 man climbing crew in 8 days, I assure you that not one of use would be caught without a pole saw up in those trees!

The way you say "those trees" makes them sound big. And that's like 9.3 trees/day per guy. Must have been a tough crew. Or were you all in buckets?

1.5 of those days were travel days, so we averaged just over 10 trees/man/day. We climbed all of them, left the bucket at home. IMO a good climbing crew with long pole saws for "wacking" Elm deadwood is far more efficiant then a bucket any day, at least on these muni contracts. We have a couple hundred more to do starting Monday of next week........I have a funny feeling that this next trip is gonna be cold though.

Norm,

American Elms are my favorite trees............and yes they can be fun to climb. We have no DED out here, so we still have a tonne of Elms and with proactive pruning programs we hope to keep it that way.
