I'm guessing these measurements are kept hush hush so Sherrill can keep selling spliced ends at $25 a pop. I'm poor. Help.

Not to be Johnny Raincloud here, but it will cost you a lot more than $25 to make one for yourself.
Just learning how to make a splice will take a few hours at best. Plus the first one you make will be terrible (just ask anyone about their first splice) so you will need to make a few to get it down. It all boils down to what your time is worth, even if you are only worth $5 an hour it is still cheaper to have someone else do a professional job on the rope.
Anyway, if you plan on splicing a lot of rope then by all means go for it.
In the end, if you just need a splice here and there save your hands, and your money and let someone else do it.
