Pocketbooks/palm pilot

Hey allmark!

Been farting around with it a bit... wanted it for the ability to work estimates. has a lot of neat features, probably worth while to purchase.

Unfortunately I was a programmer in a previous life so all I can find are the deeper flaws that really mean nothing to the average user but get on my nerves none-the-less.

Biggest drawback is that once you upload an estimate, even though you can referenence it later on the palm, you cannot edit it on the palm. I think that goes for all transactions but I'm not sure.

I did buy pocket books. I cant seem to enter info for estimates ender the description part though. I use this on the laptop and unless im able to enterit on the palm it is kind of useless to me. I am waiting a resonse from the company for help. hopefully they can. I had spent about 4 hours on it so the email wasnt very nice.

I'm looking into getting a palm pilot now. Figure I'll use it to track expenses on the go, and keep a bunch of formulations in there. What I'd love to be able to do though is upload price lists from the local nurseries. Not all nurseries, just the 2 big guys. Like that, "you want to plant _________ at ____ inches caliper." Punch in the species and size, come up with the best price immediately to me, and then relay that back to the customer.

with your palm you can use sofwater that allows you to import and manipulate MS excel spreadsheets on your palm. I have it on mine for estimate turf and soil needs based on the old length, width depth routine but I also have circular stuff and the rest of the formulas I am too lazy to remember on it. I think the PDA app is called "documents to go" or something of that nature.
