Pictures of your chipper truck, lets see them!

Ahh, it looked like it might be the 105 foot model. I just got to learn about and do a short test ride in the 83. James Morgan and his wife were kind enough to bring their machine to the West Coast ISA conference.

It’s one hell of a setup. Biggest issue and only we have had with the larger 60” grapple its a bit heavy when folding up unit. I had to fabricate a different setup but other wise its an awesome truck. The speed of the boom will never touch a prentice loader but its so much more useful. This truck has taken down large oaks as a crane. Loaded the wood into the dump body with the grapple. Throw the top on for a 20 plus yard chip truck.

The only issue when working over the front is the compa can not do a full 360. Over the back and the front is very stable. The truck is actually great for narrow areas. I would choose the compa 140.5 over are national 1300a in limited access situations. The biggest paid of everything is taking the grapple on and off. Im not sure if it’s only me but hydraulic quick connects are never quick lol.

Bigfoot look at the Avant system of quick disconnect on hyd lines. They are grouped together and a handle gives you leverage to cam them in or out no stress at all. No reason a person couldn't buy those ends and adapt them over on other equipment.

Thanks for the answers, I think I'm going for this next year.

For me the biggest issue would removing the top and having space to put it down to load the wood. Not always an option in tight urban areas. Was thinking of having some sort of tarp mecanism that would be tight enough so we could still chip in the truck.

How do you set the grapple down? Are you grabbing a log as a parking spot for the grapple? Are you getting pressure on the cylinders that prevents the quick connect from engaging? I had that problem a bit on my little BMG. I had to open a line to reconnect, once. Now, I have the grapples about half-open, not on a log, and hang the grapple and lift before trying to connect hoses.

Might not be at all applicable. My limited experience has been that pressure on the implement fights the quick-connect.

Did you have timberland put that truck together?

Matdand, I never use the truck for a chipper truck and log truck the same day. We have 3 more chip trucks so it’s more of a spare. I saw another company a few years ago at the show. It was a dump truck with a prentice type loader and had a retractable tarp top with a chip door in back.
South soundtree, you must close the grapple to the closed position to place it on the ground. It will stand up as a clam shell. We always have pressure build up in truck and mini skids.
Gorman, yes timberland built this truck and are older model with a hiab.
Litreeservice, it can reach 48ft away from the truck and you can lift 1300# straight out. Straight up you are good for around 4,000#. I have dragged logs 4000# or more 50ft away from the truck. The yard damage is minimal since you are lifting at same time as dragging. Truck was a little over $100,000 putting it on a used/newer hino.

I have turned truck off but normally just take PTO out. Pressure is always in grapple and lines. I even press controls back and fourth to eliminate pressure and it helps some. For my 2 mini skids I switched over to a different quick connect valve body with a pressure relief valve and it’s way better.

Adam how long have you been using the CMC lift? Much in the way of maintenance issues?

Thanks, and nice to see your equipment.

No just yearly safeties couple hydraulic lines here and there. Couple $50 sensors here and there I’m really happy with it. I had a 60ft as well didn’t use it much so I sold it

Do you remember the manufacturer by any chance?
