Pics of your bucket trucks.

I'm wondering, how does the chipper RPM affect the boom speed. Faster the revs on the chipper, the more fluid pumping. How did you compensate for that? Maybe you can answer it in your dedicated thread.

Where are you blowing the chips too. Either the hole hasn't been cut yet or it's a miracle!

It's a miracle!!!

The truck is not quite completed yet, at the moment I would imagine running the chipper engine @ chipping RPM would cause the boom to be fast and jerky, to fix this problem we will be installing a hydraulic valve which allows a predetermined amount of flow to the boom and sends the rest back to the tank.

My initial thought was the chipper pump may be too small and make the boom sluggish. I would think an upgraded Hydraulic pump and bigger tank or cooler will probably be in order or maybe already done. Ideally I would want a pump with 2 sections, one for the chipper and one for the boom to prevent sudden speed changes when the groundy switches feed directions or winches if there is a which.

Seems like an excellent idea. I'm Very jealous!

Its not running the lift, the original chipper pump only powers the chipper.

The boom and chipper have 2 separate hydraulic systems with a special 2 section pump that has separate pickups.

We also got rid of the original chipper hydraulic tank, took one of the truck's fuel tanks, had it modified so it now has 2 compartments, one for the lift, one for the chipper, this serves 2 purposes: the increased size will keep both oils cooler as well as allowing the chipper oil to keep the lift oil warmer in the winter. We also had a block heater installed in the tank to warm up the oil in the winter time.
