Picked up a 201T bargain

So I picked up a slightly used 201T today for $350. But now I think I might have a problem, lol.

Echo - CS590

and I don't even work on trees for a living. Okay I do have a problem and my name is Frank.

...for an 80 dollar saw...

I had one given to me by a neighbor who bought it to whack a small mulberry tree down, then never used it again. It had been sitting for a long time in his garage, so it took a whole can of GumOut to get it running, but I use it to cut roots or grind small stumps out. Like you said, they're cheap as hell. That color scheme, though... looks like they were trying to market it to 12 year old girls. I wonder how many pre-pubescent girls got one for Xmas. "Gee, umm... thanks, dad... for the... ummm.... whatever this is!"

So after working with the saw, burying it in some 12" stuff, I could see the need for improvement. Did a muffler mod this morning and like magic, no more bogging down during the cuts. Same log and chain as yesterday.

Bad news is when I got home my house was hot as hell. Blower motor is shot, throw in a capacitor and shipping....Bam $300 and I eagerly await for parts on Friday. I know what I'm doing Friday night :tarjetaroja:

Are you roasting as badly in Philly as we are in CT right now? We had 40+ school districts today that either cancelled or dismissed early due to heat warnings. After a full day of tree work in this inferno, if my blower motor was shot, I'd be sleeping in my idling car tonight with the a/c on full blast.

Central air handler. Replaced the electronics 3 years ago. Not bad for a 20 year old unit and still cheaper than replacing the whole thing. Just sucks while you wait for parts, lol.

Had to replace the fan in my central air unit, too, last month. I got lucky and a place in Omaha had it in stock and sent it down to me overnight express.
We had a real hot spell that lasted a week and a half, damn bearings seized up. Wife was in a panic. Dogs were acting like they were about to call the ASPCA on me.
I got elected to sit out there in the hot sun and replace it, but like you said, was a hell of a lot cheaper than replacing the unit. Probably go another 15 years or so.

I understand your situation. My day-job is to build aircraft carriers, but I enjoy the challenge of tree work.

I added a new Echo CS-271T to my list of disease symptoms. Thought I'd give it a try, and if I really like it, maybe order a Stihl MS-150TC down the road.
First, I need a bigger saw, though. Dealer says he can order me in a Stihl MS-441C-MQ with 36" bar. My MS-261C-MQ has the QuickStop feature, and I love it, so would like the 441 to have it, too. Apparently, it's available on more models than I thought... you just have to special order it.

True that. I'm hankering for an MS661C and wondering if Stihl will ever add M-tronic to the 880.
I've got a Stihl 066 (late model, rounded case like the 660) big boy that I'm looking to sell, just haven't gotten around to cleaning it up to put on Treebay yet. New big bore piston/cylinder. PM me if interested
