PETZL Vertex

i've worn my Vertex for several months now, both as a groundie (regular hardhats fall off me noggin), treeclimbing (rec) and workign in the woods cutting firewood or cedar shakes. LOVE IT.

very comfortable to wear, i dont often notice im still wearing it until i bump me noggin on the roof of the truck on the drive home. I do wish i had sprung for the vented Vertex (for the summer) but no complaints here. Running it with Peltor Optime 35DBR muffs and mesh visor. LOVE the adjustment wheel on the back. If its cold out, i can put a liner hat on and a quick spin of the wheel its adjusted to fit.

I've got the vented one and am seriously considering getting a non-vented one for use at my full-time job where I occasionally leave the ground and need a lid which is electrically rated.

Ive tried the Vertex and the Ecrin Roc and I also found that the Vertex sits higher than the Roc (probably more due to my abnormally shaped head!). On the plus side the Vertex has a sculpted section above the ears which enables the ear muff to sit more snugly against the head - I didn't think a non 'air tight' fit was a problem until I used a helmet with muffs that didn't fit correctly and found that the noise was amplified due to it being caught and bouncing around in the ear defender.

Another helmet I've seen and tried on but not used in a work senario is the Black Diamond, looks pretty smooth!
