our new radio ad

I like it Jason, except for the consultation part. Why do you offer them for free? I am with you on the free estimate/diagnosis, but consulting (to me) is more in depth and requires the use of your education and experience. Still, good stuff. The ISA will like it too. /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks, for the input. I typically give a homeowner a free estimate/consult, but I definitely charge for Consultations with a capitol "C". These are a good part of my bread and butter, and are usually reserved for developers and municipalities. Plus making myself a bit of a 'community resource' is a huge part of the company image. The idea is eventually to have a company that in the public opinion is virtually indeferential from a non-profit.I really want people to feel that when they call Integrity, they'll get just as unbiased, and well-researched info as the would if they called the university extension service.I know that sometimes I just get bilked for free info, and a client then goes with the low-ball bid, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

Nice ad. Well done

I reckon you get nothing for nothing, I already give away so much of my time for "free" that it's almost getting to the stage that you want to charge people for bids.

I believe this ad will be tuned into by the people who care for their trees ... and they generally will pay for help. But it is a hard one to juggle out there coz you want the work and not put people off either.

You dont spike removals?

Nice add but absolutes rarely are. (Saying we will never spike your tree).

Sometimes a heading cut is the only way to salavage a tree (wind or ice broken), topping is a rarely used option, I wont top a tree because the owner says its getting to big, but on a tree that had every leader broken and the people are dead set on keeping it (cancer patient's favorite tree, wife wanted to salavage it as long as he lived which was about 6 months) it was the only option.

Thanks for the reply lumberjack. I hear what you're saying, but you've got to remember that this is a radio ad for the general public, not discussion amongst certified arborists. You also have to remember that it's an ad- a minute and a half, two minutes long tops. It's hardly the appropriate format for discussing those relatively rare instances when it's OK to spike and top trees. It's hard enough just getting your phone number in there with the four hundred times they make you mention the name of the company.

Nice ad.
How many times are you airing it?
What is the cost to air it?
What was the cost to produce it?
How many listeners will it reach?
Why did you chose that show?
What return do you expect?

I would echo the same comments about free consultations being ill-advised and a clear contradiction in terms. A company should not provide consultations for work they are going to do. My dad and I don't see eye to eye on this... Plus it's a whole 'nother topic.

Very good ad, and I hope it gets a great response!
