OSHA takes another step towards Tree Care Standard

Is there reason to expect they will vary drastically from the ANSI Z133? Here is hoping they just codify what is there and not make it overly complicated!

In other industries that have an OSHA standard, does it align with ANSI?

As long as they don't expect us to absorb the OSHA logging standard like they tried in...was that 2008 or so?

Seems like the two main issues outside of the current Z133 are whether we can ride the ball, and if we will be required to use 2 attachment points at all times.

A change I'd like to see's making any crane used in tree operations having a positive hook gate lock, capable of withstanding the weight of the ball n rigging, when upended.

Kinda like mandating Crosby Shur-Loc hooks on any crane used in this biz.

Show em Aug's recent vid as an example of what I'm drivin at.

I don't follow August. What happened. Can you give me the deets?

Aug punched through a thick canopy with his ball n rigging to reach the climber in the tree, dislodging the rigging on his hook in a manner that it all rested on the gate latch mechanism.

Had the climber not noticed and corrected the situation?

Somethin real bad might've happened.

Crosby Shur-Loc hooks make such an occurrence impossible....

But one of the more subtle perils unique to this industry, punchin through canopies, often out of the CO's line of vision.....
