OSHA/ANSI eye protection

Hey guys, glad that you like the new mesh glasses.

Here’s a few more pictures of mine that shows the nice foam gasket edges that really help to keep the chips and dust out, even better than regular safety glasses. The Bailey’s photo doesn’t show the back inside either, so these pics give you a better idea of what they look like.

This last one shows my regular Stihl Timbersport safety glasses next to the Mesh Safety glasses.

I also heard yesterday from a source that the BUGZ mesh goggles WILL be ANSI approved soon.

Any geezers wear bifocal safety glasses? I've been blaming it on sweat for almost ten years but it's time to try a pair. And get some reading glasses for print. I guess balding, blurry vision, losing strength, better get some viagra soon too and a wraptor.

Phil, Below is the 2010 edition of ISA Cert handbook.
Tree Worker Safety Chapter 15 page 252-253

"Eye protection must also be worn when preforming tree work. If a worker is poked in the eye...(blah blah)... Tree climbers must wear protective glasses or goggles...(blah blah)... Some workers also prefer to wear face shields, such as those attached to some hard hats. Face shields offer additional protection to the face but must not be considered a substitute for protective glasses. Protective glasses must still be worn."

Other info for the discussion also mentioned in the book pg 252.

"Many states have what are known as "state plan" OSHAs, in which they may enforce federal rules, their own unique occupational safety and health rules, or some combination of the two."

"In the US, general aboriculture operations are covered under 29 CFR, the OSHA general industry standards. Specialized operations in aboriculture may be covered under specific standards."

I waited to get cheaters for reading until I was 40. My first pair of cheater safety glasses came in at 50. I need them for close up work and welding too.

I might have to get real glasses for 60 next year :(

So what is everyone wearing now for eye protection? My eyes are like shit magnets and I took antoher trip in to the eye doctor a few days ago after I scratched up my lens pretty good again.

I have been wearing elvex google/glasses things and they offer decent protection but sometimes fog. They also look hideous and my wife calls them my birth control glasses. I don't care what I look like tho if that's what it takes to protect my eyes. I value my vision as the most important thing I have. I ordered some tactical googles last night to try out. I think I'll order the mesh glasses linked earlier in this thread to try too. I've never tried mesh, I was really turned away by the way the buggz look and look like dust could still be an issue as well.

What I have currently been wearing but looking to find something better

I scratched my cornea earlier this year with a screen vizor on my climbing helmet. I decided to switch it up to the vizir, wether I am just sensitive to it now, or its just a bad design but it seems like every job with any wind at all I get sawdust in my eyes. It even makes it past the prescription safety glasses I have on as well. I'm considering trying these https://www.menards.com/main/grocer...453695959-c-6757.htm?tid=-8804248131895557639 with contacts, I tried them on in the store and they seal nicely with the foam and elastic band. And they make you look really cool. ;)
