Oregon Powernow 40 Volt Chainsaw

After looking at photos...it must come with invisible hard hat and chaps. (not that we are all perfect, but you would think that an add from Oregon would include PPE) would be really nice to have an electric saw worth lugging around, but i'm hoping for a top handle for sm pruning jobs. i think we are yrs away from finding elec saw for big cuts

Just use the "search" module here in Treebuzz Mike. There's one. And I am using it every day. It's not a powerhouse but as you mentioned great for the small pruning jobs that are too big for a hand saw.

Tomorrow I will visit a trade fair in Papendal (Netherlands).
A collegue of treestyler and me is demo climbing there and today he was able to use a YES, YES.....
Tophandle Husky battery saw with, Steven says, a chain speed of 20 meters per second.

I will try to get a hands on preview and some photo's or even better a video tomorrow.

To be continued...

Anybody ran one of these things yet?

[/ QUOTE ]I'll get the opportunity tomorrow and I will let you know what I think of the whole package.
After all, it takes more than just a high chain speed to be a good battery saw...

I have one for a month that Oregon is letting me demo. It seems to work quite well. It will get 1/2 hour of cutting with a full battery. It is quiet and pretty light weight. I'll post a full review after I give it back to Oregon.

Had my "Hands on" Wednesday.
That was a very pleasant surprise.
My first impressions from the Oregon website where that it would be a consumer chainsaw. But for the light duty work of a professional gardener or arborist this is a really good substitute for a gas saw.
I really like the way the Power Sharp chain handles the cutting.
Big thumbs up for the guys at Oregon for developing and producing a saw like that.

I bought the chainsaw with the standard battery. 120 -2 inch cuts is about right but you have to remember that if you double the diameter you quadruple the amount of wood you are cutting through so the standard battery wont make many 8-12 inch cuts. STIHL has a 36 volt battery powered chainsaw that is smaller (12 inch) and doesnt have a built in sharpener. the battery does power other tools though so if you want to move to all battery that's something to consider. also their amp-hours are 2x as much as oregons. they have a 5.2 amp hour battery for 250 vs oregons 2.4 amp hour at 200... just things to consider...

Add to that the stihl one is 3 times the price to do the same little bit of work you use one for. If it is for your tax right off go for it.

And add to that that Oregon's Power Sharp chains cut quicker than regular chains and that Oregon is closing that amps gap with one of their new battery's.
On that front the changes occur at maximum throttle.
