Opinions on Cuts

It does make sense. Is making it nearly horizontal particularly useful? I usually slant it back slightly so the cut holds the pick in a bit, but maybe that leads to more saw pinching on the second cut?
It all depends on what you want the outcome to be. If you want it to stay up, then shelf cut. If you want it to roll and then stop then a straight cut with a pause. If you want to hold it and move before you lift then v cut or snap depending. And so in.
 
I always think of this as giving mechanical commands, like in programming. Different command set on same situation/data set draws out different result.

I think cuts should be viewed in consideration to the grain.
Contested experience maybe due to local species handling.
