opinions....best spider lift?

But I can line more jobs up with the lift per day now because we can get them done much quicker then climbing. I've caught the attention of higher end home owners and other co's now so the demand is much higher for me and my lift. I really don't want to talk numbers but the cans opened ! I am very very fortunate where I am at business wise and am booked usually 3-4 weeks in advance.
I ask people in service industries...who do you want to work for? People living in a trailer park or water front?
Luckily for my industry, trees keep growing!

I must say the most per hour I make is doing some of the most enjoyable work. With the least amount of equipment. Water fronts! We have lots of water and money that follows.

Have you set up the lift on the barge? I saw it transported on one.

On the bigger one I can set it up, the smaller one no. The bigger one we have set up a 28 ton boom truck on to hoist a white pine off a boat house, so wouldn't be a problem to set the lift up...unfortunately was a while ago and no pictures !

Did that 28 tonner have an engineered chart for barge work?
It was the company owner ( who I won't name run it ! ) likely not ! He checked the job out before we did it and gave the thumbs up. Went off without a hitch. Signed a contract before hand if anything went south we wouldn't be liable ! It would be all on him. Most of the big barges up here that run georgian bay and lake muskoka are rated for 100 tons and stable on 4-6' waves travelling. It didn't move or shift we he lifted the sections. We went on the lower end of the chart

That's cool!
I've seen a few barges around here that have (4) corner I beams that are used to raise/stabilize the barge for use as a work platform in shallows. Cranes and excavators have been used off them. Mostly the barges just transport the materials and heavy equipment to islands and water only access, oh and a few where they just don't want the traffic down the drive ways.

Yeah I figured so, I'm not trying to say what he did was wrong, I'd probably do the same, but iirc the proper way to work on a barge is to reduce the chart by 50 or 75%, or something major like that, by the time you reduce it by your normal safety factor it doesn't leave much leftover.

We used Devon and his lift on a large dead poplar with limited access.

Another friend bought one of their 50' lifts (for electrical work).
Both have been working for some time with no apparent issues.
I checked out a lot of the lifts at Tree Expo. I personally liked the features of the Upequip, Ommne and Teupen.
Major point is having a dealer near by, no matter what you're buying.

WoW!!! What a nice bunch of pictures!! Can I please have them?

Just curious of your guys thoughts on the CMC lifts. I have been looking for a 90-100ft unit mostly to work with our crane. It really limits your options. We have a highranger 60/70 now and constantly need to climb or work way further over our heads then we like. After the show I went to try the cmc105hd. The one that was actually at the show. I was extremely impressed with how sturdy it was. I was at full height, then full side reach jumping around in the basket. It was considerably less bouncy then our highranger. It is a very large machine, but will still make it into considerably tighter areas then a bucket truck. While it was very slow I was told that one was speced for inside construction work. They have another one coming in towards the end of the month that is suppose to be considerably faster. My only real concern so far is the mass amount of electronics and sensors. I can only imagine the headaches that could follow. One nice part was it does have a built in LMI system so you can not overload it or go to far out. The downside was with my weight (240 dressed) I was limited to 43-44ft of side reach. And I can assume slightly less with saws and other gear.

The ommelift is seemingly my only other option but it is 13ft shorter then the cmc105hd.

We debated for years between the Omme and CMC and eventually went with Omme. Simple relays and switches. No computers. Heard too many complaints about the CMC units, service department, and overall associated costs due to computer issues. Omme and Platform Basket seem to be best choices.

We are competing very well with these brands. Please look at the enclosed comparative spec sheets on all our models and advise. No computers, by far the best departure angle of all brands, and easy to repair.

I will say basically everyone I have talked to has told me to stay clear of the cmc lift. One other lift that fits what we are looking for is the Plateform Basket 33.15 (107ft wh)Its articulated and has some really good specs. Priced even with the omme lift at $180k. Yet I can find almost no reviews. Trackedlifts does have a lot of good to say about it and says its very comparable to the omme lift.

Yes (no) on the cmc...as soon as I looked at it in person, I done seen(my eye been caught by) this exposed mains greasy googleygooped rotation assembly as the sales guy come up. I askes,"can this thing get wet? How does it handle the salt spray the guy ended up telling me, if I ever had problems...just plug it in to your lap top. Yeah Right.

Tracked lifts/platform basket also sells omme at their east Berlin Pa, we know that right?

If I was thinking over 90', i would be thinking lots bout tracked lift/platform basket 33.15.

Suggestion: Easy Lift 100-47SJ on tracks. Straight boom 100' with a 10' jib. No computers, no fancy electronic, temperamental or climate sensitive components AND best departure angle of all brands.
