Rope guide in a chipper, oh no,oh no, its serious!!!!!

Three day old rope guide has had enough of tree work and throws itself into my chipper. On the plus side, it wasn't my rope guide!!

Sorry about the pic quality, only had my phone with me.

Well the pulley is nearly 60pounds so might as well get a new one, keep the ring as a spare. We did save the retreval horseshoe clevis thing too, but now I cant find it.

My employee was feeding the chipper, the rope guide belonged to a contract climber. Guess I'll be paying for the new one just to keep everyone happy. Sh@t happens!

Chipper blades did not like it much although the main section only got as far as the rollers.

That's the way Rupe. Keep them happy. Those bucks make the diffference between a collaborating climber or just another climber.

Sh!t happens i agree. Paying up in in some cases can set ease at the crew and contracters. But dont make it usual, i know some that deliberately brake gear. (hasty work, brute recovery when gotten stuck, in a bad mood beeing neglective etc) If that happens multiple times they do get washed their eares and have to pay up (partly)damage. Thank god it was only gear so far and no personal harm or casualties.

Here's what 'Dave's' gearbag looked like after it went thru the chipper.
