oooooowwww

Oh, you're such a bad boy Butch ... tch tch tch. What I would suggest you do though just in case is lanyard in as well, that pic only has the solo attachment point ... and the smoke just finishes it off with some style ... like hey, this limb's interupting my break, hang on a sec while I lean over here and whack it some.

Do you reckon though the saw stands a chance when you benchpress 300 and curl 250?

If they banned top handled saws the injury rate would go up!

Why?

Because people would one hand a rear handled saw and my limit is the 025 for that! The 009's will make a come back as climbing saws too.

Everyone I have ever known or worked with one hands behind the scenes ... every single one. Some more than others but they all do it, especially when above obstacles and roping small bits would be a time consuming excercise.

The thing is did Pete cut himself because of kickback or because he crossed the path of the saw with his arm?

When i started teaching people how to climb and use a chainsaw in a tree i discoverd my own bad habits with the use of the saw....after adjusting my techinques i found that every situation can be done with two hands. It's a matter of a good work position and precise sawing techniques, and in some situations use of handsaw a little more, even with obstacles under the tree.

so Pete...what was it, kick back or cross cutting??

my point is if they wanted the 020 to be used with one hand they would have put the chain brake beside the top handle and not in front of the side handle.

one hand is simply less control... except for MB that is... /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif to butch for me.

Mb you make me laugh /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif Btw have you heard that smoking is bad for you as well.
The other day i reached up and grabbed a stick and it broke and slid down and stabbed me in the head.Just under the helmet.Ouch.

Also I just remembered being stabbed in the upper arm by a dead euc stick . i was throwlining up a big euc 70 feet and as i wrencthed the line back the stick came back like a spear.
No cuts with saw though ,Praise God,as i probably have a similar technique to U MB.

I quite using tobacco back when Gypologger had his heart attack. I guess that was 2 or 3 years ago?

I got bit on monday, felling a tree, end of the day, should have just let it wait, any case, I put an open face notch on the front of a 60 or so foot stem started doing my back cut noticed the bar was worn as i was cutting ie it was curving up on me, it wasnt too bad it only put me about .5" higher than i was aiming for on the notch.

In anycase, still not sure why or how, but when the tree started to go over, and i deaccelarted to pull the bar out, the 440 kicked back violently, my hand initiated the chain break, but it was still ripped from my hand took off my helmet, knocked my safety glasses off, and cut through my hand, the saw landed a good distance behind me. the cut wasnt that bad 12 stitches back of my hand, but i could see my tendons and my thumb bone.

Luckily i had my climbing harness not too far away and i had one of those heavy duty climbing safety kits, the blood stoppers or whatever, it worked quite well.

Heres to PPE

Bummer, Alves...you've got a great attitude about it...seeing your tendons and bones sounds tough. I have one of the blood stoppers, too...sorry you had to use yours.

Be nice to that wound, heal up and thanks for passing along your experience.
