Olympic NF Interpretation and pics

southsoundtree

Been here much more than a while
Location
Olympia, WA
Just thought I'd share some pics from a trip to Olympic NF on the Olympic Peninsula in WA state.

My wife wanted pics of the interpretation for possible use in educational presentations, plus some pics.

Might be of interest to some people.

Some of the interpretive signs are pictured whole, and in segments. A bit jumbled maybe. I'll sort them more later.

Hope you enjoy, and might be able to learn something about PNW ecology.

Almost drove up that way like a month ago. Ended up going south though. Basically, I don't like the road trip northward until I reach Grays Harbor, then it becomes more interesting. The drive down I-5 to Crescent City seems more enjoyable although its a couple of hours longer.

But I'll probably be up to the Olympic National Park before next summer comes.

I went out there the summer of 07.

Went backpacking in the Hoh, sul duc, checked out shi shi beach and then went to the cascades.

Can't wait to go back!

Macrocarpa,

I forgot to mention the hot springs as something for people to experience if they happen this way. Haven't heard of shi shi beach before, but internet searching makes it look Amazing! We've been to Sol Duc hot springs once, and backpacked last January to Olympic Hot Springs (I forgot my shoes and went in Chaco sandals, a bit cool and damp, but not bad). Packed in about 60-80 pounds, loaded to the max with dry kindling and madrone (dense) firewood, as we knew we would find zero dry wood anywhere. My wife's first backpacking trip. Low traffic.
