Nutrition

Oh really, what did I say then? Lost in translation again! No need to explain, it was actually a reference to Tree Dr's comment about NJ. I like stirring it up!

That was a killer dig on me and anyone fron NJ. /forum/images/graemlins/applaudit.gif

For those of you not familiar with the blokes in the UK, they call cigarettes,....fags.

Tree Dr, not really a dig at you, just a bit of transatlantic humour. I'm glad it was taken that way. Its a bit of an easy to way to cause a reaction with our american friends over here, hope it didn't make anyone feel to uneasy!

Back to the nutrition topic, I eat really good healthy food, some organic but very little processed junk. Cigarettes help to keep the food in take low at work, but I know they have to go soon, and the inevtible increase in poundage will follow! My footlocking in comps has improved well over the last couple of years from unable to do it two years ago to about 24secs now. Only a decrease in weight will help me now. Footlock and speedclimb are the only things I've yet to place top three in.

I wore a heart rate monitor at work a while ago as an experiment. I was surprised to find that while climbing around big trees my heart rate hardly ever went above 120. In terms of exercise thats a warm up, so we all need to do more to keep fit, but the motivation at the end of a hard day is difficult.

Rupe, all good fun.

As for the cugarettes- quit already. It will never get easier and it is THE single best thing that you can do to better your health. It might even cut a few seconds off of those speedclimb times! /forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Research also says now that you may gain a few extra pounds if you let yourself eat each time you crave a cig, but it doesn't stick long term for too many people. And a few extra pounds is less hurtful to your health than a few cigs. You can do it Rupe! /forum/images/graemlins/smoker.gif

Kind words Mark, I appreciate it. Its something I'll sort out myself somehow/someday, I gave up for a long time a while back but it can creep up on you again if your defences are down.

I hear ya. It might even be the hardest thing to do. But the rewards are there. After the first week is over, you start to think about how good it feels to breath and then a month and then a year. Once you really decide to see it through it will be doable. And you'll even be able to go to the pub with some friends and not even grab a fag /forum/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

i gave up smoking nearly 3 years ago now.
used to smoke about 50+ skinny roll ups a day. i loved smoking big time.
after the first few weeks it is surprisingly easy.
bit of advice for ya though.....wait till you get a god awful 2 week flu bug that makes everything taste like crap....that was my starting point.

Much thanks to Jack for posting about the blood type diet. It makes a lot of sense, and I think it will help my wife and I be healthier people. She is type B and I am type AB so we can eat primarily the same foods. I seem to have noticed benefits already. I am sleeping better at night, my cold is gone, and I have more energy. Later, Roger.
