Now HAAS and SAKA can sue me

Meh i feel like the haas creator made it more readily available for splicers to make thier own as to where the saka creator pulled his instructions as soon as some coin showed face. That turned me off for sure. I use the haas i made way more than the saka I purchased....
Not true about the "coin".
I'm happy you enjoy what you made, there is great satisfaction in that, which no purchased products can compete.

I'm not attempting to bag on you richard, just saying.
You are so right about the satisfaction of using tools we splice ourselves,i use the saka more so when i have a climb that I'm just gonna leave it attached and use mine when I will be stowing on harness.

Sorry but my skin gets thin when an implication is made that money is my motivation here or that I have litigious tendencies.

Although I did take a customer to small claims court for 5 bucks once. Found out he stiffed every contractor for 10% knowing it wasn't worth the time. My bill was 50 bucks and he paid 45 and F-ed with the wrong guy!
A man after my own heart. Screw that guy.

Or his daughter.

I'm just a drama whore... I just find this whole thing silly. I've made a OG HAAS, a SAKA, and now this. All of these devices are so simple and easy to make with out specialty parts (perhaps not haas 2.0). I think that the one I made above is the superior to the rest, and the easiest to build. Sure if the pantin is a little more if you were to buy one, but I'm sure we all have a chunk of double braid cover laying around, and if you can't figure out a locking Brummel you should really just pony up and spend the $160 + for a simple tool...
Poking fun out of silly drama, and yes I do feel a little lonely... :numberone:

View attachment 39846 View attachment 39847 View attachment 39848 A while back I said that I would share my iteration of the current form of knee ascenders. Total build costs less than $10 as the pantin came free from treestuff. Small and compact.
I'm probaly not going to post build instructions but will be happy to answer any questions.

Since you can't call it a knee ascender without getting sued, how about the "evomotion"?

With EVO, Richard, and Michael as my muses I knocked this out in about an hour. I am calling it the "WAKO" for Whup-Ass-Knock-Off. If I had it to do over again I would probably keep the tubes inside the cover all the way to the top and then thread the cover thru the Croll so that the top splice is on the front instead of the back. But I was in a hurry and not thinking. The cover is 1/2" Stable Braid. Do I need a lawyer?

Lawyer needed for sure. Looks great! Any issues with that croll on larger ropes, 11.5, 11.7, or 12 mm? I just bought a basic, and I like it, but have to cram a few of my ropes into it.

It depends on which Croll you use. The old version was rated for 10-13mm rope. The smaller version of the Croll that I used is rated for 10-11mm rope, but it works fine for slightly larger ropes like Tendrill (11.1 mm) or Tachyon (11.5 mm). The problem with the Basic is that the upper hole is flush with the rope slot (as opposed to being angled back), so you can't braid the cover thru the top hole without it getting in the way of the rope. But you could probably make it work for your version because you are only running the cover thru the bottom hole.
