Non-Stihl Carry Case for MS261?

Since the reviews for the new Stihl chainsaw carrying cases are less than glowing, does anyone have a different type of case they use for a 261? Probably prefer a hard case, but not ruling out a soft case. Online descriptions usually leave me wondering if a case will be just a tad too small or if it will swallow a 261.

I have a made a case for another saw out of a perfectly sized Rubbermaid tote. I just cut out a rectangular hole for the scabbard to slip through and added a carrying strap. I guess that's Plan B.

Are you flying with your saw?

these bags are about the best I’ve seen.

No, not flying with a saw. My wife would put me in the psych ward on a 72 hr hold if I suggested taking a chainsaw on vacation! (I never even considered the need to fly with a saw, but I guess it's a "thing.")

Those cases look very nice, but I'm looking for something fairly inexpensive to store the saw and protect vehicles from oil and sawdust.

Well, I was at the closest Stihl dealer today picking up a saw and checked out the Stihl Woodsman Carrying Case. It's such a good fit for the 261, I decided to take a chance on it.

The first case I looked at had slight cracks at the ends of the strip of plastic that functions as the hinge. I found another case that had a pristine looking hinge and bought it. I imagine that if the hinge has cracks when purchased, it will fail prematurely. I'm sure really cold weather contributes to hinge failure as well. Too bad they don't make the robust cases like they used to; at least I have one of them.
