New Tribe Onyx

I haven’t actually even ordered one yet. So i’d Say it’s the newer version ;) haha.
But this morning I ordered one for my boss. I am gonna take a close look at his when it arrives and from there consider getting one for myself. Just curious about the Lower-D possibility.
So do you think backing out the straps to flip the plates around is a simple task, no cutting or re-sewing?
I think the sewing that tabs the end of the webbing straps to the rigging plate would need to be un-done. The leg strap webbing would not have to be. But if you just purchased one then it will have the new plates and a forward facing connection.

I've had an onyx for years. The only time I notice the side d's is when I accidentally clip into them and wonder wtf I am doing. I would be happier if they weren't there to get in the way of my caritool!

What was the reason, if you don't mind my asking? Was it that the side "D's" were too small for your liking, or something else? Or possibly multiple reasons? Thanks in advance for any answers you choose to provide.

The hip-Ds were a big part of it. I had them flip backwards a couple times and get snagged in my caritool. Also didn’t like that there was still 2 full sized Ds on it, but only as an accessory attachment. Thought that was silly. If they wanted the weight to be kept down, why not use lil Ds and then nylon, or even full sized Ds and Nylon? I’m sure there was proper motivation for it; just not my cup of tea.
But I made all that work for the time I had it... the ULTIMATE reason: I put a couple inches on my waist. Haha. So the small was getting a little snug.
