Senate Bill 2628, which would place a tax on landscaping. This bill limits the exemption of landscaping being considered a capital improvement to the first 12 months a house is occupied. After the initial 12 months landscaping will be taxed.

While the Assembly leadership has been quoted as opposing these new taxes, it is our understanding that the Governor’s Administration has earmarked the tax as bringing in 20 million dollars a year. This figure makes the tax more attractive to implement. It is important that the Assembly Leadership hear from the industry and continue to oppose the legislation.

We urge everyone to contact Governor Codey, Assembly Speaker Sires, and Assembly Majority Leader Roberts and let them know of your opposition to this legislation. Their contact information is listed below. I have attached an example letter for your convenience.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you,

Gee, governments don't need to spend within their means, they just need to collect more tax. What a plan...
