New Rope time................

You should find out if Blue Moon is a custom color of another rope. The trend in the last few years has been for manufacturers to make a rope and vendors to have custom colors spun. Same ropes, different names.

I've been using Tachyon for my SRT rope and like it alot! The very first thing that I noticed is that it has much less volume in my rope bag. The next thing I noticed is that Tachyon is lighter than the 200' of KMIII that I've dragged around as my carry-on on planes for years. A triple play, great rope, less volume and less weight...could it be better?

Yes; it meets the knotted strength and energy absorption requirements of EN1891 type A (important stuff when covering your backside with a single line), and comes in the best hi vis colour (orange) to check out that high shot.

This morning I milked my other 150' hank of Tachyon. For the first milking I choked off the spliced end and used the Unicender to run out the rope. Only a couple of inches of slack bunched up at the end of the rope. When the Uni was about ten feet up I cut off the melted end to allow the milk to move off. There was only a little milk.

Then I remembered I had a better milking tool. Actually its a descender, http://tinyurl.com/2ufcml The Alp tool allowed me to adjust the tension on the rope and just pull the rope. It's made to be a hands off descender. The lever is the brake.

The next two milks yielded little more slack. All totaled there is only about 4" of slack milked off the rope. There have been other Tachyon ropes with up to 30" or so milked off so I may get more after climbing on it.

tom thats a wild looking tool I should have known you would have a gadget like that sitting around.

I'm suprised to hear of so many people milking there tachyon lines. I haven't had any milking at all, but then again I had both ends spliced so it may have been milked prior to the splicing

I've been climbing on the line for about a month and so far no milking

I love my Tachyon. I have milked out about 8 inches, and I think that's all it wants to do, so I'd like to have the other end spliced too.

When I get another line, I'll go with the orange and gold Tachyon. Very Hi-Viz

Tachyon has become my favorite rope. I have been using HTP thru the Unicender and Tachyon allows so much more control and is alot smoother handling,. making working the tree single rope really a pleasure. Using it double rope I really like how easy it is to grip and how well a variety of hitches work on it. Color me real happy with mine.
