New Petzl helmet. FAIL!

Thank you very much for taking time to dissipate the rumors and lay out facts.

Without participation from manufacturers we're forced to make assumptions... the less info we have the crazier the assumptions. Tree guys work with living tissue so it's very complex and unpredictable... we get good at making assumptions because it keeps us from getting hurt.

You on the other hand work with engineered materials where assumptions are ruled out in the course of design and testing. We NEED your input and information to make rational decisions.

I for one am willing to wait for the results of your investigation, just keep us in the loop and I think you'll find us more than reasonable. Leave us in the dark like Kong and Kask... and we get pretty nasty and extremely vocal.

I'm wearing my Vertex Vent that I've owned since Katrina and it's still the best tree helmet I've ever worn. I loaned it out when i bought a Kask that subsequently had foam issues similar to Family's. I had to take it back which sucks but there it is.

I've been contacted again today by Petzl America. They are still awaiting the helmet. The storms seemed to have slowed things down a bit because it's still in IL and I shipped it out early Saturday.

They are taking this as serious as we would all hope and we should hopefully receive information about what happened to the foam.

On a serious note. Im glad they are looking into this. I know my ecrin saved me serious injury years ago. Ill still have it but the suspension broke from the impact. It was time to replace it.
