Can you tell us a bit about the arbo program that you're enrolled in?

Sure. Its a one year ( 2 semester) program. The first semester includes Arboriculture, which involves hands on learning with pruning, cabling and lightening rod installation, safety, fertilization, construction protection, hazardous tree assesment, and much more. There is also Horticultural Botany, which includes being able to indentify over 100 trees and also covers basics such as CODIT and other life functions of trees. This semester also has a climbing class, which covers all the gear and climbing techniques you can think of.

The second semester includes classes in Urban Forestry and Plant Pest Management. I havent started the second semester so i cant go in depth on these courses.Cant wait to take them though. I plan on transferring to Virginia Tech for fall of 2005 after completing the program here at Blue Ridge.

Here is a link to the program at Blue Ridge: Blue Ridge Arboriculture Program
