New helmets with Sena

We used our new helmets with the Sena comms system all week, man that's slick! I can send a guy down the block to the truck and be up a tree and tell him in a normal voice to grab a rescue 8. They do last all day and the only issue we had was a unit not turning on. It was quickly resolved by inserting a paper clip in the reset hole for 5 seconds. So far nothing but good shit to say about this system.. the safety implications are also huge. A great investment and highly recommended in your crews kit.

They pay for themselves quickly, with increase productivity, and increased safety.
Buy a headset for the crane op, if you use one. Easily saved 45 minutes on that all day crane job, which paid for the CO's headset on the first day.

We very rarely use cranes here, mostly because the closest one is 11/2 hours away! But only a handful of trees are left dead long enough to require one. But we have and yes that’s a great idea. I just wanted to try them out and see what my impression was. So far... totally a believer.

We’ve had ours about two months now, game changer on par with using a chipper with a winch for the first time. We’ve had 5 folks paired together successfully, across a lage propery with three of us up in the air. I love using my golf voice while running a saw or the chipper. And the fu-beep! as your coworkers accidentally bump out is just like tv censorship.

Are you using Sena? I thought they could only pair with 4 at maximum?

We are, the smh-10s. That's what I thought, but we did 5 one day. Took like 10 minutes to get it paired correctly, and another 10 minutes at one point when someone bumped out. We regularly do 4 with no problems though.
