Here's a shot of my six year old daughter "Lexi" climbing a rock wall for the first time. She made it to the top with no slips. The guys working there praised her. I heard one say "that little girl is killin the wall". All smiles! /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Is the belay on a sternal D, have they moved the belay to the front of the climber to keep their teeth out of the rock in the event of a fall?
What's the proper belay position for tree climbers and pole climbers, front as well?

Cool!!! /forum/images/graemlins/applaudit.gif ........Is she climbing trees yet? Is there a minimum age for the ITCC...?

Kev- for a grown up rock climber, the attachment of the climbing line is to the belay loop, just below the belly button. Little kids (Lexi's size) might use a full body harness with a loop at chest level. Little kids tend to be top heavy and might invert (flip upside down) if tied in with a traditional rock climbing harness.

Tree climbers use similar harnesses with some sort of frontal attachment points in the crotchal region. Pole climbers probably are attached via a lanyard connected to the side d-rings.

It's so much fun having the kids climb. I got both of my nephews saddles for x-mas. I thought their mom was going to kill me when she saw I had the both of them in my elm.Plus my wife was not to pleased when the dinner guests all came out side to watch.

The V-2 BOD has fall arrest front and back, sternal and dorsal.

Two fall arrest attachment points (sternal and dorsal) on adjustable Vshaped shoulder straps.

My brother's girls, 8 & 9, both have their own climbing gear. They can tie their knots on their own too. Jim double checks them of course. It's fun climbing with them :)

She takes after her father.

On a side note kind of, at my old high school they had an indoor rock climbing wall for use during gym class. Never seen that at other high schools.

It hadn't finished up-loading properly.

Here's most of what came in of the little darling, shrunk, sharpened, cropped and lightened a bit.

That is a great picture...worthy of framing. She will love looking at it over the years...so will YOU.

Looks like she is happy and having a great time.
