Yeah ...it looked like he just yanked it, and I thought "oh heck no". But them on that little clip showing it put it back in, looks like it had some kind of locking mechanism. If it just comes out with force, I've certainly become a lot less interested! The way the swivel pops out makes me uneasy
A lot of care and attention has gone into the whole devices function over a range of system ideas, the swivel included. The lower sprung cam locks into it while in suspension. There is also a rubber o-ring inside the swivel head that keeps it from moving unintentionally when changing the device from rope to rope. It takes a positive action to remove it from the main body. Very beautiful design, and functional. It looks like it does just slide on and off of that bar, which looks like it has a groove that locks into a cut out in the other side plate. You're putting a lot of faith into the locking mechanisms staying together rather than a solid piece not breaking
Fair point Rico.$430 get ya a less safe (fuck that swivel setup) ZigZag, and those who chose to run it with an Apex are gonna be in over $600. This why I love folks like Gordon (BDB) and Mr. Mumford. They understand that what the average working tree-man wants is a safe, highly effective, reliable tool for a reasonable price. You can keep your gadgetry and shiny colors. Thank you very much....
Can this device be run SRT without an apex/wrench/chicane on top?A lot of care and attention has gone into the whole devices function over a range of system ideas, the swivel included. Thanks. And thank for chiming in here. I for one take comfort in knowing you had a hand in its design.Yes.
That's kind of you.Thanks. And thank for chiming in here. I for one take comfort in knowing you had a hand in its design.
All three points retain the same function wether in MRS or SRS. they are able to regulate the amount of friction rather than moving completely in/out of function.Bobs yeruncle post 1st pic patent pending, my misspoke. Indeed there's a rope pinch inside the body which to quick thought appears to get some disengagement/unloading in the DRT configuration, I guess to change friction levels like how the other new device blackbird locks out the bird via the DRT connection biner to drop friction level.
zigzag chicanery has been out-chicaneried![]()
Can this device be run SRT without an apex/wrench/chicane on top?
Is there any reason, then, to put something over it for more friction in SRS?Yes.
