new climbing pants

Cityclimber:

I don't know the type of Patagonia pant I got. But, the Sportif brand are cut off cargos.

Did you dry your pants in the dryer? I bet that's why your didn't have such a good experience with them. If so, then the nylon breaks down fast. Nylon clothing should be air dried.

I have to say that after using pants and jackets with different soft shell fabrics that something like Schoeller is a heck of a lot better than plain nylon pants. My Arborwear tech pants are great but hold water once wet and don't dry out like my Schoeller pants do if I'm moving around.

The dryer thing is a good point, i'm to lazy to hang the up. I have lightweight hiking pants by north face, mountain harwear and patagoinia, they all went in the dryer, and the TNF pants held up the best as far as nylon pants go.

My new favorite pair for the warm weather is http://www.arcteryx.com/product.aspx?Switchback-Pant

Well I think now I am gonna just stick to my tough wearing tech pants. The airs are definitly the most comfortable but just don't hold up.

I have had mine 3 weeks and after the first wash the threads where starting to fray. By the second wash I had noticed that now threads where starting to unravel and had to be burned to stop them. And then secondly I noticed there where quite a few stains in them but like the ad said it wasn't honey being I am not a bee keeper.
Now lastly the most horrible thing happened today. Was just doing some normal pruning on the pin oaks and I was on my way back in from a branch. One of those small 1/4 inch sticks went right through the pants and ripped them about 2-3 inches and undid the sticking out of the left pocket. And not only did I do that but because of the hole I lost an engraved zippo that was in that pocket that I had recieved from my gf.

That now brings my total to 3 items that I have recieved from Sherrill for christmas that either got ruined or was not designed well.

In the context of pants, I knew exactly where you were going next when you said Pin Oak. Dang those trees can be brutal!
