new bigshot configuration

Thanks Tobe... I was also having this problem. I like the design better than the old pouch where sometimes the bag would stick in the pocket. Then the new ones fall out while pulling back. I wish I was just better at throwline then I wouldn't have anything to worry about!

The one I have, I just feel the material is cheap. Like it's made out of the cheapest tarp fabric from Walmart. I'll have to try the new one, thanks.

the newest version sucks i just got it from vermeer about three days ago it is no where near as accurate as the second version although i haven't gotten a miss fire yet. it doesn't shoot as far as the second version ether. the finger hole is to small and my fingers keep getting stuck. the rubber is way to long i have to pull it down way farther than my old one. i think this is the reason for the accuracy and distance problems. i think i must have a defective one. the version two that i had, i used it so much the rubber wore out and tore. i throw more consistently than the new head shoots and i throw it higher with less effort. i shot that thing like 20 times at a crotch today 75' and bushy couldn't hit it. my old one would have hit it in the first shot! tobe what are you going to do about this?

murph i don't like the new one. i like the one no one else does. although it misfires a lot less.

Jeff,

Let me try and verify that the one you got from Vermeer is "the latest version." Between the finger hold and yellow pouch are the straps sewn together (like attached image)? This is the latest version.

We used to provide rubber tubes long enough for even the original Bigshot (it had longer horns). If that was installed without shortening tubes it could be the cause for low tension. There should be only about 19-inches of (relaxed) tubing between the horn end and tube termination into the pouch (girth hitch).

Tobe

And yet again Tobr steps up to the plate and smacks the ball out of the park (sorry for the baseball analogy, phillies have been on my mind)

Keep up the good work Tobe.

As for the big shot problem. Ever since we got the human crane I haven't needed it. Y'all really need to get one of these. They set all of your lines, rig like crazy and carry all of the heavy logs. Greatest investment our company has ever made.

Jeff. I'll check to see what big shot config. we are using, if it's the old school one we can do a switch a roo. I'll let ya know tomorrow.

GO PHILLIES!

PM sent...

I still have one of the old pouches that is ready to be installed on one of my two old design heads. My third head is the new design, but not the latest pouch. It really is frustrating to use, so I'll welcome the properly designed puch being sent.

First time logging on here, looks like I squeeked in right at that deadline, Tobe.

Thanks for the offer.

I asure you it is the old one, and low priced as you guys are I know damn well it the same one I got Ryan to buy 6 1/2 years ago. By the way your crane sucks I know an old guy that can hump just as big a log as he can.

i cut the tubing to fit with a little adjusting and some soap got it to slide down and get even. it shot a bushy sixty footer today in three shoots (i mean real bushy like holly bush bushy). my fat fingers still don't like the release but with a little getting used to i think it will work just fine. thanks for the input tobe. for the record i think the strap that you pull down on needs to be wider. thanks jeff

Well My replacement showed up today, at first glance I was disappointed at the look of the material that the pouch was made of. We will see IF it stands up to the cold temperature we have up here. My original was still on the head (8 yrs old), it is always stored out of sunlight.

I like the additional length of the draw strap, I doubt my hands are anywhere near as large as Jeff's, but no matter, I have built a trigger release to maximize both length of draw and accuracy.

The tubing was easy enough to install, however, I think IF the natural curve of it was considered when it was spliced onto the pouch it may improve overall appearance and efficiency.

The instructions could be improved to makes sure the lengths (as Tobe mention here) are proper. Also the alignment of the splices (rotation on horns) will effect the pouch to head performance. I believe the instructions should include storage instructions (ie store out of direct sunlight) as this would likely help the longevity of the rubbers. <Sorry Tobe, this is against the laws of retailing>

Sorry to write this prior to firing it, I might forget, but at this point I would rate the new pouch at par with the older ones.

Once it dries and I shoot it, I'll be BACK!

Well I shot it today, I was disappointed! The new rubber is harder to stretach and it shot 20' lower than the old one (temperature was 7C warmer than last test). I double checked the lengths prior to installation, everything was the same.

I guess the rubber must be different, and the pouch is terrible! Please build with the old style pouch.

To end on a positive note, I do like the additional length of the draw finger hold!

I have an old BS borrowed for a while, and I've compared back to back with a new style BS.

Even though the old one has bands that are 4 inches shorter, it throws noticeably further than my new one for a comparable pullback.

To get some extra distance I am now using longer poles. For now have settle on a 6 ft over a 4 ft although I could trim a little off the bottom pole and get by.

Also I am cheating now and using a mechanical pulley/ropegrab that works perfectly with a trigger. I put some marks on the pole that correspond to different heights with a give throw weight I also posted this pic on AS, I believe.

The angle of the photo makes the pully/ropegrab look a little bigger than it really it.

I haven't had a chance to put on the new pouch on my b-shot.

Here is the style I LOVE, it's the company I work for part time. The bag sits in it nicely, don't have to worry about it sliding off the cheaply plastic material if you angle the pole at all. It sits in one way, and I rarely have a misfire. The material is top notch too, strong and stout.

Can't you make this again?
