New Bandit Chipper

Hey guys,
We are a fairly new tree company, and are looking at purchasing a new Bandit chipper. Until now we have just rented a 6" chipper. We have outgrown that, and are looking to upgrade. I'm stuck between a few chippers:
90 xp,
200UC,
12XP 89hp
12XP 130hp

I'm thinking the 90 because of the weight. Does anyone have experience or recommendations any?

What are you using as a chipper truck? 130hp in a 12" will be pretty unstoppable. Are you looking to go diesel or gas? Does bandit offer gas engines yet, I know morbark does. Are you looking at brand new? Can you afford the 12" 130hp that's gonna be a pretty good chunk of change.

With chippers the bigger the better.
If you buy a smaller one it will only be a matter of time before you need to upgrade and go through the hassle of selling then rebuying and if you don't have the funds can be without a chipper in the transition of the two. This will typically be when a storm hits and you could lose quite a bit of money,a fraction of the cost of the machine in lost storm work.
Good Luck
Buy the biggest you can afford
I have a 1590 with a 213hp motor and would go bigger except when towing 10K or more your in CDL country.

Like above stated bigger is better but any one of them will get you going. I own a 1590xp and traded my 90xp for a 200uc with a 97 hp cat I really like it its light weight fast feed and chips great. We use it more then I thought I would. The 1590xp is heavy the 200uc is like a jacked up 90xp no complaints.

how are those coneheads for reliability???

I demoed one before I went with the bandit 1590... I liked the way they chipped for the horse power... 285 hp will destroy anything you can put in there... AWESOME!!!!

I have over 5000 hours on our 510 (18") and we feed it with a crane and wheel loader and only issue I have had was the clutch went out..

565 has 1800 hours and I hope I have as good luck with it. It has the most powerful feed system I have ever seen on a chipper, we fed a 22" diameter 60' tall bushy locust through it on its first day with no cuts. Took 3 mins bust she just sucked it in...

Heavy beast at 14000 lbs. We took down a big ass hickory today with the crane and it just decimated it. Whole leads just breeze through. Such a shame they went out of business, nothing else sounds like them chipping, such a smooth Swish sound to the blades as it shaves off the wood as opposed to the violent bang bang of a regular drum

Why did the conehead chippers go extinct? They always had great reviews, and even now. @pctree have you had to obtain any parts for them, other than a clutch? Are knives and anvils hard to get?

I really never try to buy anything from the dealer. I bought the clutch from a twin disk dealer online. Only part I couldn't source if it disappeared is the drum but dare say I could get it fixed.

Daniel with a lot of help from Matdand I purchased this chipper for $35K. I have been searching for 5 years for this chipper. Worth the wait and thanks Matdand as I would never have bought it blind
