New ABR Retrieveable Redirect from TS

Yep! Done that(mumbling, & throwing) I've been using cutting oil while cutting, the local metal shop only had 5/16" x 6" 6061 flat stock, they wouldn't order anything less than 10' lengths of what I really wanted, 1/4" fs, so I made due w/ what they had, I cut 8 blanks out of the piece that hey had, I have a buddy that has a machine shop that I'm going to go to tomorrow night to heat & bend the blanks, then I'll place a 1" spacer inside before drilling the holes, the part I haven't thought thru is the rounding & reduction of the neck & corners. Any advice would be very appreciative. I do have an arsenal of power tools, at my disposal, just not setup for aluminum. Thanks...(from the gear junkie) That would be me [emoji849]

And when you figure it all out... Start thinking how to do it fast and affordable with perfect consistency! It's a battle!!

I will, thanks guys! This is a bit of a wayward learning curve, but I'm not giving up this easily! Time & Patience! Going to find a different supplier, if this turns out to be a bust, for the material that I'm really after. Thanks again!

My concern is that if you mimic the shape of the stainless steel quickies with aluminum it may not be strong enough the original units that were made from aluminum or aluminum side plates with steel pins.

I understand what you're saying, Nick. These are for tethers on the RR, NO weight to speak of, other than the tending off the device. Don't rain on my 1 man parade! I'm not looking to replace the quickie, just a minimal weight alternative. This is going to need its own thread real quick...

Light is right! Are there aluminum slic pins out there. I remember getting some samples from the supplier a couple years ago, and I almost think I remember an aluminum one in the bag. Probably not with the double catches though.
Anyone using a 9 or 10mm sewn prussic loop with a 'biner and a quickie or a small key pin shackle, all set up in the same fashion as TS's sweet rig? It wouldn't have the stiffened/spliced sections, which clearly help. Not as a replacement so much as a "use what's already on the harness in a pinch" set up. Hat's off to the whole TS crew for another great piece of kit! The retrieval on that thing looks sweet! Can't wait to hear more.
